How to help your school keep the planet cool

Students

  • Ask your teacher to make a climate change action plan for your classroom.  It can be as easy as making sure the lights are turned off when you leave, recycling everything possible and producing less waste.  Get creative and find ways to make your class green.
  • Start an environmental club in your school.  Get people involved in thinking about ways you can reduce the carbon footprint.

Educators

  • Teach your classroom about climate change.  The more kids know and understand, the more they will want to take action in the community.  There are lots of great resources about climate change.
Here are a couple of websites to get you started:

  • Create a climate change network in your school and community.  Connect with other teachers and schools in your area or across the world to share resources and work together to find innovative ways to teach students about climate change.  Click here to check out The Globe Program, an international education and science program.
